[NEWS] Local Singer Derrick Hoh to Guest Judge for Singapore’s Leg of Audition in Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt Season 3

Singapore, 28 August 2013 – Home-grown singer and superstar idol, Derrick Hoh has been confirmed as the Singapore’s guest judge for the upcoming season of the talent show reality series, Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3. The singer songwriter who got his first break into the entertainment industry via a similar competition, will sit amongst a panel of esteemed judges including returning judge, Mr. Eddy Tan, Vice President of Original Productions – Entertainment for FOX International Channels (FIC) and new addition, a representative from CJ E & M to assess the participants for the Singapore’s leg of the audition.

The wildly successful television programme which has seen more than 16,000 submissions from the region, welcomes all aspiring hopefuls with outstanding singing and dancing abilities from five countries, including Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand, to submit their video entries via the official website www.kpopstarhunt.com.

The versatile Derrick Hoh, who is no stranger to the training regime of the K-Pop industry, has also previously worked with the several famous Korean stylist and choreographer for his second full length Chinese album,Change. He was under the tutelage of Defdance’s dance teacher and choreographer Feel, who has designed snazzy moves for megastar music artistes like Super Junior and Lee Hyori. Derrick has also worked with pop polymath Korean designer and stylist, Ha Sang Beg whose clientele includes Korean pop groups, SHINee and SNSD.

Said Derrick Hoh, of his new role as the Singapore judge of Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3, “I am truly elated to be a part of this talent hunt for Singapore’s next singing sensation and help them become a step closer to realizing their K-Pop dream. Singapore is a hotbed of talents who need platforms such as this to uncover the creative local talents. I will be keeping my eyes open for individuals who can shine not just on stage but off it. Techniques and skills can be polished, but a big heart that comes with talent will be something that I’ll be trying to spot.”

Scoot: K-Pop Star Hunt 3 is organized by FIC’s leading Korean entertainment channel, channel M, CJ E&M and FNC Entertainment will be organizing preliminary auditions in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand where they will select the 2 most outstanding contestants from each territory. These finalists will be flown to Seoul to receive professional training with CJ E&M and FNC Entertainment where they would compete for a contract deal with CJ E&M and FNC Entertainment and also stands a chance to collaborate with artists from FNC Entertainment and make a stage appearance on 2014 Global M! Countdown with his/her own debut single.

Singapore will be the first country in the region to kick off its local auditions followed by Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Fans and supporters are welcome to attend the public audition which will be held on Sunday, 15th September at Bugis+.

K-pop fans between 15 and 29 years of age in the aforementioned countries will have more than 6 weeks (submission deadline varies in different countries) to upload their video submissions.
