[K-POP] 5 Things You Should Know About Girl's Day

Girl’s Day consists of 4 members; Sojin (Leader), Minah, Yura and Hyeri and their biggest hits include: ‘Something’, ‘Darling‘, ‘Expectation‘, ‘Female President‘ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle’. They have gained popularity for their ability to pull off both sexy and cute concepts, wherein their quirky personalities and intriguing habits have garnered more attention, making them all the more likeable and down-to-earth idols.

Without further ado, here are 5 interesting fun facts our editor has picked for you to know more about Girl’s Day!

Girl’s Day debuted with their first mini-album Girl’s Day Party 1 in July 2010, but there was a line-up change later that year in September as two members (Ji Sun and Ji In) had to leave due to personal interests. Yura and Hyeri only joined then, and they released another album titled Girl’s Day Party 2. It was only in 2012 that the fifth member Jihae left too, and the remaining 4 members are now currently active in Girl’s Day.

If you didn’t knew, the girls are all extremely close and comfortable around one another, to the point where they will post photos and videos of themselves trying to kiss each other! Even in the music video of one of their big hits, ‘Female President‘, Hyeri and Minah went all in and had their lips almost touching! Check out the music video of ‘Female President’ above!

Girl’s Day members confessed that they actually watched adult videos together to practise and improve on their facial expressions for one of their singles ‘Something‘, which involved a sexy concept.  They eventually decided that the video contents were absolutely not related and it was meaningless, so they stopped.

The members of Girl’s Day are also known as reversal idols because their debut song ‘Tilt My Head‘ was not a big hit and they were even mocked for it, but two months later they swept everyone off their feet with ‘Nothing Lasts Forever‘ and gained lots of fame thereafter, thus earning them the title.

Before their debut, the members of Girl’s Day were seen dancing flash mobs and performing in the popular districts of Seoul, and many K-Netizens predicted that they would be a successful girl group. Today, Girl’s Day is standing strong as one of the most popular K-Pop girl groups and they are also nominated for a few award categories (such as ‘Best Female Group‘ and ‘Best Dance Performance Female Group‘) at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards!
