[K-FOOD] Celebrate New Year the Korean way at Bibigo Singapore

What’s a better way to celebrate the New Year than feasting on good food? Make the most of your New Year by celebrating it the Korean way!

In Korea, the Koreans will usually have the Tteok-guk (rice cake soup) on special days or occasions to mark a fresh start to the brand new year. Interestingly, the white rice cake symbolises a clean and new beginning to the year, while its (coin) shape represents good fortune and health for anyone who eats them, all adding to good wishes for the new year.

This new year, you will be able to try this traditional dish at Bibigo, as they are currently serving a special menu with a selection of dishes that are sure to rejuvenate your palate.

Mandoo and Rice Cake Soup Set (Served with rice)

Bringing this unique tradition to Singapore, Bibigo introduces the Mandoo (Dumplings) and Rice Cake Soup set that consists of mandoo (dumplings) and thinly sliced rice cakes boiled in clear beef broth, garnished with julienned fried egg and spring onions.

You can have the option of ordering the set meal with or without rice cake ($13) or with the addition of Japchae ($18), a kind of stir-fried Korean glass noodles.

Korean Traditional Meatball Pancake

Another traditional Korean New Year side dish that you can find at Bibigo is Jeon, a kind of pancake-like dish. Jeon is prepared with various ingredients such as meat, seafood and vegetables, mixed with flour batter or coated with egg batter then pan-fried with oil.

For the New Year’s special, Bibigo serves the Meatball Pancake ($4.50) which is made with pork, tofu, mushroom and assorted vegetables.

Soup Bulgogi Set

If you are a meat lover, then the Soup Bulgogi Set ($27) would be sure to satisfy your craving. The beef is marinated in Bibigo’s very own soy sauce, served with shiitake, king oyster mushroom, beech mushroom, green and red pepper and glass noodles. Enjoy the Soup Bulgogi at a special price of $24 just for the New Year!

The New Year special menu will be available until end February, 2016. Don’t miss out on trying these traditional Korean New Year dishes for a prosperous New Year!
