IDIOTAPE was in town last weekend as part of the line-up for Mosaic Music Weekend 2016, as the band presented an electrifying one-hour performance that left us wanting for more.
Inspired by Classic Korean Rock from the 60s and 70s, the trio consists of producer and renowned DJ Dguru, synthesiser player Zeze and DR on the drums. The performance was held at The Esplanade Recital Studio, that allowed the audience an up close and personal view of the stage.
In true IDIOTAPE fashion, the trio skipped the mundane introductions and went right in with ‘Airdrome’, followed quickly in succession by ‘Boiling Point’ from their 2014 album Tours.
The electronic band also performed multiple songs such as ‘Melodie’ and ‘Even Floor’ from their 2011 album 11111101. The same album was featured heavily as the soundtrack for popular South Korean reality game show The Genius.
While best known for their hard-hitting and dynamic synth-driven rhythms, IDIOTAPE changed the atmosphere by treating us to one of their more melodic tracks, ‘Morn’. The addictive melody coupled with the heady ambience had everyone up on our feet and swaying to the beat.
Closing with popular song ‘With The Flow’, IDIOTAPE left the stage among cheers and shouts for an encore.
