Talk about aesthetic or interior goals, this cafe in Seoul will be one that you may like to add to your itinerary the next time you visit South Korea. Named after the cafe’s real address, it’s relatively easy to navigate your way to CAFE Yeonnam-dong 239-20, which appears on Google maps as “239-20 Yeonnam-dong”.

Located in the Yeonnam-dong district, one of Seoul’s hippest neighbourhoods, the cafe is about 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Hongdae — Hongik University subway station (Exit 3), to be exact.

CAFE Yeonnam-dong 239-20 is divided into indoor and outdoor sections, a pretty small cafe that can accommodate about 20 or so people at any one time. From the looks of the exterior, it’s not easy to tell that this is a cafe until you step in further. But if you spot the white gate outside, you’ll definitely know that you’re at the right place. (Follow the directions on Google Maps and you’ll never go wrong!)

Upon stepping foot into the cafe, we were greeted by comic strips plastered all over the walls and floor, and it almost seemed unreal as though you’re in W – Two Worlds, the webtoon itself. If you remembered the hit fantasy drama aired in 2016 starring Lee Jong-suk and Han Hyo-joo, that’s W – Two Worlds.

Including the coffee mug and furniture, everything was styled just like a comic book and looked absolutely Instagram-worthy.

As the cafe is operated by the owner alone, waiting time for a cup of coffee may take up some time especially when the cafe is full-house.

Selections of desserts and drinks are pretty limited, but they do serve the standard Americano, Latte (Caffè/Vanilla/Mascarpone/Green Tea/Choco), Cappuccino, Mocha and different kinds of tea; all reasonably priced from 4,000 won to 5,500 won (nothing more than S$7 for drinks).

The cafe was only opened for business in the second half of 2017, hence still considered fairly new in the area. If you have some time to kill before heading to Hongdae, you may want to check out this Instagrammable cafe and the shophouses around the Yeonnam-dong district!
