[K-Travel] 6 Art Exhibits to Check Out if You’re in Seoul this Winter!

Shopping and eating are so yesterday. How about checking out some amazing art exhibitions in Seoul to kill time instead? From photo galleries to interactive art installations, Seoul has got a never-ending list of exhibitions for you to check out. When you’re traveling to one of the trendiest countries in the world, how can you miss checking out their vibrant art scene? When you’re in Seoul, do what the Seoul people do, so here are 6 exhibitions for you to check out this winter!

1) Sugar Planet <슈가플래닛>

All the pinks and purples in this exhibition make this one a literal childhood’s dream come true! Be greeted with a mountain of sugar or a ball of cotton candy (not real, obviously) as you make your way through this mini fantasy land that looks straight out of a scene of Wreck-it Ralph.

Mini neon light installations and photo frames fill all four corners of the room, making the entire area a very nice backdrop for the gram as well. As you scramble your way to the exit, don’t forget to take a dip at the choco pool and snap a shot or two to show your friends just how much of a sweet tooth you’ve got!

2) I am Coco Capitán: Is It Tomorrow Yet? <나는 코코 카피탄, 오늘을 살아가는 너에게>

Look through the viewfinder of Coco Capitán, a Spanish artist who innovative works have adorned the fabrics of the luxury powerhouse, Gucci. Known for her trademark scribbles and distinctive photo styles, this exhibition offers you an insight into her unique perspective on the world and also on the how this artist came to be through her eccentric works of art.

This exhibition marks the first time Coco has held a solo show in Asia and this 150-portrait strong exhibition is sure to leave you in a trail of wonder.

3) Megan Hess Iconic <메간헤스아이코닉전>

For all the fashion connoisseurs out there, this is one exhibition you will want to visit! Famed fashion illustrator Megan Hess‘ famous bespoke illustrations, which have once graced the covers of “Sex And The City”, are finally in Seoul! Working with many renowned brands such as Dior and Chanel, her iconic works of arts are a sight to behold.

Her breathtaking pieces of art are drawn to inspire viewers to be confident and courageous, it makes you wonder how much thought and consideration she had put into each and every piece. Definitely an exhibition you’d want to explore!

If there’s anything to describe this exhibition, it’s an organized and colorful mess. Be ready for a once-in-a-lifetime whirlwind experience at the Kenny Scharf exhibition! In true pop-art fashion, this place hosts over 100 of Kenny Scharf’s vibrant and whimsical artworks, including his paintings, sculptures, drawing, and videos.
