The 12th edition of global competition Changwon K-Pop World Festival (CHANGFE) has began its search for international talents around the around to compete and perform at this year’s festival. CHANGFE is the world’s largest K-Pop competition and this year will see preliminary rounds being held in over 100 participating regions, where shortlisted finalists will be invited on a 2-week all-expense paid trip to Korea to experience an array of Korean cultural activities and participate in vocal/dance lessons by Korean industry experts in preparation for the grand finals in September 2022.
Organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Singapore, the Singapore Preliminary is set to take place on 19th June at the School of the Arts (SOTA) Drama Theatre, where shortlisted auditionees will battle it out live on stage and compete for a chance to represent Singapore in the final showdown held in Changwon, Korea.
This year’s competition will feature both the vocal and performance (dance) category, with auditions open to Singaporeans, Permanent residents, and those who work/study/reside in Singapore (excluding tourists). While there’s no age limitation, interested applicants who are below 18 years old will have to seek parental consent. Additionally, the song(s) used in the audition submissions must be in Korean.
Similar to previous years, the top three acts (from Vocal and Performance category combined) elected from the Singapore Preliminary will move on to participate in the next round, representing Singapore in the competition against their international counterparts. Only the grand finalist will be invited to perform in Changwon.
