With so many groups debuting each year, it’s hard to keep up with them all. One of the recent debuts under the spotlight is NewJeans – a 5-member girl group homed to ADOR, an independent label under HYBE. Comprising of members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, the group was first introduced to the public through ‘Attention’, and they subsequently followed up with ‘Hype Boy’, ‘Hurt’ and ‘Cookie – all of which came with accompanying music videos.
A trendy debut that has caught the eyes of many, we foresee NewJeans to be a trendsetter when it comes to fashion and style. While the girls debuted with straight, natural-coloured hair (a key highlight in ‘Attention’, in which the hair is almost a part of the choreography itself), their hairstyles are never boring. Here, we get some hairstyle inspiration by looking at how the girls’ hairstylists amp up their hairstyles – all of which can be achieved without doing any chemical damage to the tresses.
From baby bangs to longer bangs resting just below the eyebrows, bangs can help frame the face and add character to your style.
While space buns were in trend a few years ago, we like how this style has been tweaked here into a new look that reminds one of ribbons. To help frame the face, consider leaving a few strands of hair untied.
A few strands of braids lend some cuteness to the overall look. It can also be used to frame the face or just to make a hairstyle look less boring.
Personalise your look with accessories especially when it comes to bubble braids. Due to the many hair ties involved, using colourful hair ties or adding cute accessories can work well to bring attention to the hair.
The half-up hairdo is versatile as it can be done as a simple half-up ponytail or half-up bun as seen above, or it can be made more intricate with twists and braids behind.
Whether it’s a high pigtail that’s both cute and edgy or a low pigtail that exudes a more youthful vibe, pigtails can be very versatile and is not necessarily a hairstyle that’s only suitable for a cute look.
Clips are an easy fix when you’re in a rush and have no particular hairstyle idea in mind. Consider only using one to two clips if the clips are bigger in size. If they are smaller in size, such as mini claw clips, consider using a few so that the hairstyle is still eye-catching but doesn’t throw off the balance of your entire look.
