You might have heard of Gaho for his chart-topping OSTs.

Born Kang Dae-ho, he lent his voice for the original soundtracks of various K-Drama like Itaewon Class (2020) and Business Proposal (2020).

What many might not know is that: Gaho actually started out in a R&B, hip-hop collaboration project PLT. The group made their debut in 2018.

Before the day of the album release, he slept over at bandmate Villain’s house.

We woke up the next morning and washed up. Just before lunch, he (Villain) looked at his phone and said ‘[the song is] out?’”, Gaho told HallyuSG in an exclusive interview.

Gaho shares more on doing song covers

For the 25 year-old vocalist, that was one of his fondest memories after more than five years in the industry.

Now, he is actively creating music and covering songs of other artists.

He presented his personal take on Blackpink’s How You Like That (2020) and BTSLife Goes On (2020) on his YouTube channel.

When it comes to covering works of other musicians, Gaho prefers to adopt a more carefree slant about it.

“Rather than saying ‘I have to show you this cover’, I cover a track when I feel strongly that I want to attempt it,” he said.

Perhaps, it is this free spirited mindset that allows Gaho to exercise creativity in his covers. So that each of them has got his colour in it – even though the track might not be originally sung by him.

“It was like that and it’ll likely be so in future too,” he added.

On his personal activities, he also recently dropped his second mini album Diamond in March. It arrived together with a titular concert held at Nodeul Island Live House in Seoul.

But other than being a singer, HallyuSG understands that Gaho might want to attempt another occupation soon – being a model.

“I want to model for a product that I really love – an electric shaver,” he said with zest as he let out a chuckle.

Hinting at the possibility of coming to Singapore

Talking about the future, he also hints at the possibility of holding a show in Singapore to meet his local fans.

While he has never been to Singapore, he’s keen to learn more  about the culture here.

“I want to feel the vibe in Singapore, learn about the culture of the people and indulge in local food,” he said.

“Call me, and I might come to Singapore to hold a show,” he teased.
