Following the global success of Squid Game, Netflix previously confirmed that the series will be renewed for a second season.
Today (15 June), it has been confirmed that actor Im Si-wan would be appearing in the second season.
Im previously starred in various hit K-drama series, like Run On (2020) to the recent Netflix film Unlocked (2023).
The creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, confirmed that protagonist Song Gi-hyun (Lee Jung-jae) will be appearing in the second season.
Song is also known as Player 456 in the series.
Actor Lee Byung-hoon, who plays the Front Man in the series, will also be coming back for the second season.
The nine-part series follows poor civilians who wish to win the jackpot by participating in a deadly challenge. One that could possibly cost their life.
Or it could win them the mega cash prize.
Along the way, we see some bonds forged and how the contestants battle their innate greed and desire to win.
The first season of Squid Game featured some big names in the industry like Lee Byung-hun, Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon and Wi Ha-jun.
Ending on a cliffhanger, it’s no wonder why fans are eager for the second season to drop. More details about the game and its mechanics may also be revealed in the coming season.
Squid Game previously received a total of 14 nominations at the Emmy Awards last year.
Male lead Lee Jung-jae also made history as the first Asian actor to bag the Best Drama Actor award.
