2NE1’s Sandara Park announces her solo eponymous EP album, drops in July

The upcoming Sandara Park album will be the singer's first album released after her departure from former label YG Entertainment.

2NE1‘s Sandara Park is set to drop her first solo eponymous EP album on 12 July (Wed).

The 38-year-old singer’s upcoming drop is titled Sandara Park, a playful pun on her own name. “Welcome to Sandara Park,” a teaser poster wrote.

The theme of her album seems to be whimsical of sorts, welcoming her fans to her newly opened amusement park.

While not much has been revealed about her upcoming musical release, Park recently created a TikTok account. It was probably to gear up for her return to the music industry and to promote her songs subsequently with short dance challenges.

Her first video, which dropped almost two weeks ago, was of her dancing to the now-defunct 2NE1’s classic, I Am The Best (2011).

She later also did solo renditions of the choreographies to the band’s previous tracks like Fire (2009) and Can’t Nobody (2010).

The quartet, which consists of CL, Minzy, Park Bom and herself, disbanded in 2016. But Park continued to dabble in other fields of the entertainment industry, like variety and acting.

Even before her debut in 2NE1, Park dropped a few Filipino tracks like In or Out (2004). She was based in the Philippines during her early years as her family moved there from Korea.

She also released a Korean solo Kiss (2009) with former entertainment label YG Entertainment.

Her upcoming eponymous album will also mark her first musical drop since her departure from YG Entertainment following the expiration of her contract in May 2021. She is currently under Abyss Company since last September.

Abyss Company houses several other acts, like soloists Sunmi, Bambam and Korean duo Melomance.
