Adding to its line of Korean programme offerings, Netflix confirmed that there will soon be a new action variety programme.

Titled Zombieverse, the programme will star comedian Park Na-rae, TV personality Noh Hong-chul and Kim Jin-young of Single’s Inferno.

There will be other idols in the programme line-up as well – including K-pop girl group Billlie’s Tsuki and rapper DinDin.

In the programme, these celebrities are the survivors of a zombie apocalypse. And they have to then work together to find food, shelter, water and transport. All for their survival.

According to Deadline, it cited Korean press outlets reporting that the art team of All of Us Are Dead (2022) and the choreographers of Kingdom (2019) are the ones behind the upcoming programme.

Zombie-themed projects have been surfacing in the form of dramas and more fictional forms. But it is quite the first time that this concept is being brought into a variety programme.

That’s not all that’s new.

“There will be new zombies, survivors and unique scenes, which have not been seen in the existing zombie-themed projects. The likes of bumper car-steering or swing boat-riding zombies will entertain the viewers to their fullest,” said director Park Jin-kyung.

It appears that the rules of the game are simple. Contestants will exit the game once “bitten” by the zombies, while the others progress forward.

Separately, if you are game to get a first-hand experience of a scare, look no further.
