South Korean actress Jeon So-min will be bidding farewell to the widely-loved variety programme Running Man. This comes after being a regular cast of the long-running show for six years.
Her other co-hosts for the programme include Yoo Jae-suk, Haha, Ji Seok-jin, Kim Jong-kook, Song Ji-hyo and Yang Se-chan.
Jeon’s agency, King Kong by Starship, confirmed the news today (23 Oct) via an official statement. “We decided that she needs some time to recharge in order to impress even further through future activities, including her acting [activities],” the statement read.
The decision was one made through “great contemplation as [Running Man] is a program that she has maintained a relationship with for a long time,” it added.
The production team of Running Man has also confirmed her departure from the programme. “Even though Jeon So-min did Running Man alongside her other activities and responsibilities for six years, we understand that she now needs more time for her other commitments and to recharge”.
In the statement, it mentioned that the team, together with the members, tried to “find a way to stay together”. But eventually, they respected her decision to leave and “decided on a sad farewell,” according to XportsNews.
The 37-year-old actress first joined the programme in April of 2017, on the 346th episode. She previously guested on episodes before joining in as a regular cast member.
Running Man is one of the longest-standing variety programmes, with its first episode aired in 2010. The programme will continue with the rest of the cast members. It is unclear as of now whether there will be a replacement for Jeon So-min.
