When it comes to holding domestic concerts in Seoul, it’s mostly the usual few places that come to mind.
K-pop stars usually use sporting arenas, like the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium, Jamsil Arena or the Seoul Olympic Stadium. For some fan meetings, they may opt for more intimate venues like the Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace.
But there’s a new indoor arena in South Korea that many artists could soon be using.
Located in Incheon’s Yeongjong Island, the new Inspire Arena is an indoor performance arena with up to 15,000 people.
According to its official website, the Inspire Arena “stands as the nation’s premier multi-purpose performance venue”. It can cater to various events, “from prestigious awards ceremonies and thrilling sports competitions to expansive fairs and exhilarating e-sports tournaments”.

The facility is part of a larger mega-integrated resort, Inspire Entertainment Resort. It consists of a casino, various accommodation establishments, restaurants and even a mall.
Slated for a soft launch end of last month, the Inspire Arena has held one of Korea’s leading year-end music awards shows Melon Music Awards.
It will subsequently be home to SHINee Taemin’s solo concert, titled Meta Morph, for two nights on 16 and 17 Dec. Nearer to the end of the year, it will also stage SBS’ Gayo Daejeon on Christmas Day. The televised programme is the broadcasting station’s annual flagship music festival.
With its series of shows and festivals lined up, Inspire Arena is sure to host more of such events next year.
“We look forward to welcoming both domestic and international visitors with a diverse range of entertainment content,” said Mohegan Inspire’s Chief Marketing Officer Michael Jensen.
“The arena will host Korea’s leading music events, concerts and Christmas and New Year celebrations in December,” he added.
