What to expect from K-pop in 2025: Blackpink makes comeback, Babymonster and Treasure embark on tours

We’ve just stepped into the second half of 2024. Yet, forward-thinking YG Entertainment is already making plans for 2025.

In a new video released on YouTube, the founder of the entertainment label, Yang Hyun-suk announced various updates.

From Blackpink’s upcoming comeback to world tours by bands like Babymonster and Treasure, below are four things to know from his announcement.

1. Blackpink makes comeback

“There will be a highly anticipated comeback from Blackpink,” Yang said. “It will also be the year Blackpink starts their world tour,” he later added.

Blackpink recently ended their individual contracts with the entertainment label, and have since signed under various agencies for their solo promotions.

Members Jisoo, Lisa and Jennie have set up their own agencies — BLISSOO, LLOUD and Odd Atelier respectively. Rosé is currently under The Black Label.

The quartet last went on tour in 2023, with their record-breaking Born Pink world tour. Their upcoming one will once again be one to look out for.

2. Rising groups embark on tours

The label’s rising groups such as Babymonster and Treasure will also embark on world tours next year. Yang did not offer more details on the tours and stops.

For context, Babymonster recently held their fan meeting tour titled See You There, which also saw a Singapore stop. The girls visited for a one-night-show last month, at The Star Theatre.

Separately, Treasure last brought their Hello tour to Singapore last April, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

3. Updates on WINNER and AKMU

While Yang did not offer much insight into both WINNER and AKMU, he revealed that: “WINNER’s Mino and Yoon will be discharged from the military”.

Fans can likely expect more musical activities and promotions from both bands.

4. YG’s Next Monster

Following the debut of Babymonster, YG Entertainment’s Next Monster is also “currently waiting in the wings”.

According to Yang, he will also be introducing them to fans in time to come. He did not go into specific details on the upcoming group, and how he’d introduce them to the public.
