Blackpink’s Lisa and Rosalía are about to drop the song of the summer

Mere days after Charli xcx celebrated her birthday with Lorde, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, we are witnessing yet another gathering of pop girls: Blackpink’s Lisa and Rosalía have announced their new collaborative single, New Woman.

On Instagram, both stars shared the single’s cover art, which features Rosalía in a furry pink coat and sunglasses, and Lisa sporting a full Motomami outfit comprising a leather jacket, a corset, and Mugler knee-high boots.

Before unveiling the collaboration, which follows up her record-breaking solo single Rockstar, Lisa had teased the song on Tiktok. In the snippet, the K-pop star raps over the energetic track in a mix of English and Spanish, Rosalía’s native language: “Bangin’ it, bangin’ it, wanna crack these walls/Bangin’ it, bangin’ it, wanna echo through the halls/Pullin’ up, fresh face, brand new día.”

New Woman will mark their first music collaboration, but this isn’t the first time that Lisa and Rosalía are doing things together.

In 2023, in between their headlining sets at the Coachella music festival, the It-girls spent a day out and about in Los Angeles, seeing the art at The Broad Museum, taking photos at Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Rooms, and grabbing a snack from a food cart.

In an Instagram post about their outing, Rosalía wrote, “My friend is prettier than a [Jean-Michel] Basquiat [painting].”

The two stars have previously expressed admiration for each other’s music, and it makes sense: both Lisa and Rosalía are known for their bold, boundary-pushing sound and their fashion-forward visuals.

Another thing they share in common? They are both global ambassadors for LVMH’s powerhouse luxury brands. Rosalía is the face of Dior, and Lisa was just announced as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton. Inevitably, they now run in the same circles: just last month, both stars attended LVMH’s pre-Olympics cocktail party in Paris.

For their upcoming collaboration, we can expect Lisa and Rosalía to tap into their exciting chemistry together. Stay tuned: New Woman will be released on Friday, 16 August, at 8AM (Singapore time).
