Hallyu Spotlight: Seeun and J of STAYC talk new single “Over U, Goodbye”

In chilly winter, two things can warm one’s heart. First, it’s a cup of piping hot tea or chocolate and second, a comforting song that speaks to your heart.

As for the latter, that’s exactly what Seeun and J of K-pop girl group STAYC gifted their fans this season. The duo teamed up for a special digital single titled Over U, Goodbye (2024).

In this ballad-like tune, the duo sings about a goodbye, getting closure after getting over someone.

HallyuSG sat down with the duo to find out more about their collaboration and what went behind the track.

Tell us a little bit more about your new single, what’s it all about?

Seeun: This single showcases our voices and is a warm song filled with winter vibes.

Describe your upcoming single in only one word.

J: I would say “Christmas” because it’s being released on Christmas (Eve). It really fits the holiday mood.

This is your first time working together as a unit in STAYC. How’s that experience like for the both of you?

Seeun: It was such a new and exciting experience for me. Since it’s the first album featuring just the two of us, it really highlights our voices, and I’ve been so looking forward to it.

What is one message that you’d hope fans can get from your new single?

J: Since this is a winter song, we hoped to bring out a warm feel. I hope everyone can enjoy a cozy winter while listening to it, and I’d love for everyone to show lots of love for our vocals.

Lastly, What can fans look forward to from STAYC in the new year?

Seeun: You’ll be able to see a new side of STAYC, so we hope you’re looking forward to that.

J: We’ll work hard to create even more fun and special memories for you! Fighting!
