5 K-dramas to catch in Feb: Melo Movie, Newtopia and more…

1. Melo Movie

With many romance K-dramas set to be released this month, it seems that love is truly in the air.

However, if there’s one K-drama you can’t skip, it’s got to be Melo Movie. The plot follows Go Gyeom, a movie critic (Choi Woo-shik), as he rekindles his relationship with Kim Mu-bee (Park Bo-young), an aspiring movie director.

Beyond the compelling leads, the drama also boasts an impressive creative team. It is written by Lee Na-eun (Our Beloved Summer) and directed by Oh Choong-hwan (Hotel Del Luna, Start-Up), promising a well-crafted romantic tale.

Melo Movie will be available on Netflix from 14 Feb.

2. Newtopia

Korean zombie dramas never fail to captivate audiences, and Newtopia looks set to continue the trend.

This romance fantasy series starring Blackpink’s Jisoo takes place amid a zombie outbreak—but what could be worse than fighting for survival? Running into your ex in the middle of it.

Newtopia will be available on Amazon Prime Video from 7 Feb.

3. Undercover High School

After almost two years, actor Seo Kang-joon is finally back on screen.

In this series, he plays a field agent in the National Intelligence Service (NIS). Tasked to discover the location of King Gojong’s missing gold bars, he has to disguise himself as a high school student to fulfil his mission.

Undercover High School will be available on Viu from 21 Feb.

4. The Witch

This series follows Mi-jeong (Roh Jeong-eui), a girl whose life is riddled with misfortune.

Branded a “witch” by those around her, she isolates herself to avoid bringing bad luck to others. However, her former schoolmate Dong-jin (GOT7’s Jinyoung) refuses to keep his distance—determined to uncover the truth behind her so-called curse.

Blending mystery and romance, The Witch is easily one of this month’s most intriguing releases.

The Witch will be available on Viu from 15 Feb.

5. Friendly Rivalry

Hyeri returns in Friendly Rivalry, a drama reminiscent of Pyramid Game (2024).

The story follows Woo Seul-ki (Chung Su-bin), an orphan who enters a prestigious school for South Korea’s elite. Unsurprisingly, she struggles to fit in.

However, she catches the attention of Yoo Je-yi (Hyeri), the school’s most influential student, who unexpectedly takes her under her wing.

What begins as an unlikely friendship soon spirals into a gripping tale of power, obsession, and competition.

Friendly Rivalry will premiere from 10 Feb.
