Review: G-Dragon makes triumphant return with third studio album Übermensch

This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The king of K-Pop, G-Dragon has finally dropped his new album.

A highly anticipated release, Übermensch (2025) — German for “beyond-man” — features a total of 8 tracks, including previously released Home Sweet Home (2024) and Power (2024).

His third full album is diverse yet cohesive, showcasing his distinct voice and ability to push artistic boundaries. 

Together with this new album release, he will be embarking on a world tour beginning in March but the full list of stops has not yet been released.

Home Sweet Home (feat. Taeyang & Daesung)

Starting with the song featuring his fellow BIGBANG bandmates, Daesung and Taeyang, Home Sweet Home (2024) serves as a reflection of the G-Dragon’s growth since his debut. 

The trio delivered their first-ever performance of Home Sweet Home (2024) at MAMA 2024.

Just as the lyrics of the track go: “You’re welcome back home, wherever you are”, it portrays the enduring bond amongst the BIGBANG members.

Power

Now I got the power, the power power. With its energetic beat and powerful rap, it captures the excitement when one listens to the song.

Just like its title suggests, Power (2024) illustrates the strength as well as the theme of self-confidence, delivering a bold message about breaking through all the high societal expectations.

Too Bad (feat. Anderson .Paak)

G-Dragon never misses when it comes to aesthetics.

The vibrant concept, the pink hair, and that signature charisma—he knows exactly how to keep fans on their toes. The music video also features a surprising cameo from aespa’s Karina, with the pair performing a duet with their groovy dance moves. 

Too Bad (2025) is highlighted by its upbeat rhythmic sound and a very addictive hook. It just feels as if I’m at a party.

Drama

Serving as the album’s title track, Drama (2025) is a ballad song in which he connects with fans all over the world. Here, he sings in four different languages: English, Mandarin, Japanese and Korean. 

A huge contrast from Too Bad’s (2025) music video, the atmosphere is eerie and cold.

Every note, every lyric, and every visual in the music video radiates his pure emotion, showcasing his story that we do not get to hear.

IBELONGIIU 

IBELONGIIU (2025) showcases G-Dragon’s versatility, a mix of Hip-Hop and R&B.

The lyrics delve into themes of love and connection: “Forever I’ll stay with you/Nothing’s gonna tear us apart/Since the first time we met I knew/That I belong to you”.

The track flows so smoothly, making it such an easy listen. Personally, this is my favourite track due to its laid-back mood.

Take Me

This R&B and hip-hop-infused track is smooth and undeniably addictive. “Take me take me I’m yours” repeats itself through the chorus and we all know it will be our next earworm.

The guitar solo hits hard, making it stand out from the rest of the album.

Bonamana

Starting the track off with his deep voice, the track is yet another contrast from the other tracks in the album. Bonamana, translates to ‘no doubt, obviously’. 

The lyrics ‘bonamana’ repeat itself through the chorus and somehow create a sense of lingering feeling. With such a unique track, he once again proves why he remains a force in the industry.

Gyro-drop

Once you listen to this track, your head will naturally start bobbing along to the beat.  

A hip-hop rap track, it has a modern yet old feel to it. This track screams G-Dragon, with every beat and lyric.
