5 K-dramas to catch in July: Trigger, Law and the City, The Nice Guy, and more…

This month brings an exciting lineup of dramas, including many highly anticipated series featuring A-list actors like Lee Dong-wook, Lee Jong-suk, and more.

Kim Jin-young, better known as Dex, will also be making his full-fledged acting debut this month in The Defects (2025).

1. Law and the City

Lee Jong-suk is back in freshly pressed suits as he plays a dashing lawyer in this legal drama. 

Law and the City (2025) tells the story of a group of associate lawyers at Seocho Judicial Town. It depicts their daily lives and shows how these young lawyers navigate the ups and downs of life amidst their hectic jobs. 

Law and the City premieres on Disney+ on 5 Jul.

2. The Nice Guy

With a star-studded cast featuring Lee Dong-wook and Lee Sung-kyung, The Nice Guy (2025) is a noir melodrama that you can’t miss.

It strays from the usual gangster drama, leaning more toward a character study of the emotionally complex Park Seok-cheol (played by Lee Dong-wook).

The series follows Seok-cheol’s constant inner turmoil as he struggles between chasing his dream of becoming a poet and a family legacy that forces him to take violent action, when all he wants is to pick up a pen.

Lee Dong-wook usually shines in portraying darker characters, and we’re certain that Seok-cheol will be no exception.

The Nice Guy premieres on 18 Jul.

3. The Defects

Based on a popular webtoon on “child shopping”, The Defects (2025) is an action thriller which follows the story of the chairwoman of an illegal adoption ring, and a group of abandoned children who survived the vile practices of that ring. 

Kim Jin-young, better known as Dex, makes his acting debut in this series,  portraying a human weapon raised by chairwoman Kim Se-hee (Yum Jung-ah).

The Defects premieres on 21 Jul.

4. My Girlfriend Is The Man!

Astro’s Sanha and Oh My Girl’s Arin are coming together in this romantic comedy. New K-drama My Girlfriend Is The Man! (2025) is based on its eponymous Naver webtoon.

The series follows the story of Park Yoon-jae (played by Sanha), an astronomy student, and his girlfriend Kim Ji-eun (Arin), who unexpectedly transforms into a handsome lad.

My Girlfriend Is The Man! premieres on Viu on 25 Jul.

5. Trigger

What would happen if firearms suddenly flooded a gun-free country? Trigger (2025) depicts just that. 

This gritty crime thriller follows a resolute cop and a cunning arms broker. They then find themselves in a tense confrontation after a gruelling chase. 

Trigger premieres on Netflix on 25 Jul.
