TWICE’s Chaeyoung to make solo debut with new album dropping on 12 Sep

Son Chae-young, or Chaeyoung, as she’s commonly known, will soon make her solo debut.

The news initially broke in early June when her agency JYP Entertainment confirmed that the 26-year-old artist is “preparing her solo debut”. Then, they did not reveal an exact date.

With Nayeon, Jihyo, and Tzuyu already having launched their own solo careers, Chaeyoung will become the fourth member of TWICE to go solo.

A multi-talented artist since her pre‑debut days, Chaeyoung first captured fans’ attention on the survival show Sixteen (2015) in 2015. Then, she earned her spot in TWICE as a main rapper and carving out a distinct artistic identity.

Since then, she has penned lyrics for and wrote several of the group’s songs, even designed album covers and merchandise.

Fans have long anticipated her solo moment.

She first played a solo set during the group’s Ready to Be world tour (2023–2024), performing an unreleased self-written song, My Guitar.

More recently, she also worked on a remix with American alternative hip hop duo Coco & Clair Clair for “Pop Star” (2022). That once again showcased her versatility beyond the group.

Meanwhile, TWICE’s group activities are also in full swing.

The group is now on tour, which features a 360-degree stage setup catered for fans. The tour includes stops across Asia and Oceania, with the Singapore leg set for October 11–12 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

In the ongoing concert, Chaeyoung performed a solo tune “In My Room” as part of her live set. As of now, it’s not clear whether the song will form part of the album.
