Show Review

Industry veteran Key was in town to play his show a while ago. Yet till today, his artistic direction remains unforgettable. Titled 2025 Keyland: Uncanny Valley, the SHINee member brought his solo concert to Singapore for the first time at the Capitol Theatre.
Explosive vocals and suave dance moves were some things fans were looking forward to. But that was not all.
Born Kim Ki-bum, Key’s flair for the dramatics made the show even more memorable, a testament to his years of experience and willingness to push artistic boundaries by incorporating unconventional themes into his performances.
1. “Uncanny” valley
It’s not common for anyone to describe their show as uncanny, let alone their own concert. Initially titled Keyland, the singer renamed his tour, Keyland: Uncanny Valley, after the release of his latest track, Hunter (2025).
In his own words, Key explained that the meaning behind Uncanny Valley was meant to be “uncomfortable” and “unusual”. After all, his performances of Hunter and Helium (2021) exuded an air of mystery and quirkiness through their lyrics and choreography.
2. Bold fashion choices

With a show promising something unusual, it comes as no surprise that it was also reflected in his stage costumes. Kicking off the show with a silver corset with armour-like plates, his outfit was abstract and maximalist, but played into the concept of uncanniness to the T.
3. Genuine and heartfelt
Key expressed much gratitude to his fans, punctuating his sentences with “Thank you” at every juncture.

He was also relatable to his audience. Key shared a personal anecdote about his experience at the Tyler The Creator concert in South Korea, where he felt exhausted being in the standing pen. Hence, he wanted to ensure his fans were feeling their best and not get tired out.
4. Love for his band
It was no doubt SHINee members were close, and Key definitely showed his love for his bandmates. Even in his introductory speech, SHINee was never far from his lips. “I have come here a lot with my members,” he said, “but it’s my first time in Singapore alone.”
He also joked around with fans, endearingly calling Choi Minho his best friend.
The cherry on top? Key would like to return to Singapore to do a fansign and hopes to be back with his bandmates, a win for all Shawols.
