[Coverage] Park Bo Gum Gifts Fans A Good Day to Remember at His Singapore Fanmeeting

You know a genuine person the moment you see one, and the moment we saw Park Bo Gum, we could hear angel bells ringing. After the successful conclusion of  his latest drama ‘Encounter’, the hot actor was once again back in Singapore for his Asia Tour.

It has been two whole years since the actor last held a fanmeet in Singapore, and despite it being only his third visit here (his second being Music Bank Live in Singapore), the star is still as humble and giving as ever. Seriously, once you’ve been to his fanmeet, there is no way you will see fanmeets the same way again.

As the stage light darkened, the screen began rolling and fans started to fervently welcome Park Bo Gum with their passionate screams and rousing applause.

Descending from the stage in a charming grey suit, Park Bo Gum started off the fanmeeting with a cover of DAY6’s “I Like You”, to the excitement of many.

Soon after, the first half of the fanmeet began and the actor started talking about what he has been up to recently – to which he revealed that he would be preparing for his next film project the moment he lands in Korea.

Following that, 3 lucky fans were selected to go onstage, and were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reenact famous scenes from ‘Encounter’ with the actor himself! Under the envious eyes of many, Park Bo Gum became a fairytale romance come true for the three, we can’t help but swoon too.

For every stop of the tour, the talented actor also made it a point to personalize a candle for one lucky fan, and Singapore was not an exception. A table was brought out and Park Bo Gum got his creative juices ready. Wanting the candle to be a true representation of the Singapore spirit, Park Bo Gum made sure that the candle was filled with blue sand (to represent the blue skies and seas) and perfectly fitted with a lion and five stars.

And that was not the end as he still had many things up his sleeve prepared for his fans. His generosity and love know no bounds and the actor continued to gift items from his personal collection to a number of fans. Some of the items included his official merchandise (such as his 2019 Seasons Greetings) and even a hat he wore on a trip to Universal Studios Singapore previously!

After concluding the extremely interactive first half of the fanmeet, the tempo shifted and the latter half was more of a mini-concert. Changing into an angelic white shirt, the seasoned actor began to flawlessly belt out track after track. A medley of songs such as Baek A Yeon’s “Always Be With You”, IU’s “Through The Night”, JYP’s “Honey” and his very own “My Person” were sung, all of which were picked in hopes of conveying his honest feelings to his fans.

From slow, melancholic songs to fast adrenaline-pumping ones, not only were we impressed at his ability to pull off flawless renditions of all kinds of songs, we were charmed by his doe-like eyes that were gleaming with sincerity as his performed. His infectious smile definitely radiated energy and positivity unlike any other, and we soon found ourselves grooving along as he sang.

As with all fairytales, all blissful episodes have to come to an end, and as Park Bo Gum sang his final track, a cover of Deulgukhwa’s “Blessing”, the 3-hour fanmeet came to a satisfying close. Throughout the fanmeet, we were amazed at how passionate and generous he was, and we were also impressed at how vocal he is with his love for his fans.

All throughout the show, there was never an instance where he showed his tiredness. Even until the end, Park Bo Gum was thinking about his fans, and each and every audience member even walked away with a hi-touch and letter from the actor! Time passed by in a blink of an eye but we are glad to see him staying true to his humble roots and it was truly a good day to remember.

Park Bo Gum says the Time Spent Meeting Fans on his Asia Tour is Most Rewarding for him

Ahead of his Asia Tour Fanmeeting in Singapore last Saturday, Park Bo Gum took some time to answer a few questions at the press conference held a day before the show on Friday (Mar 8), where he discussed about his upcoming plans for the year.

Greeting the media and fans with his signature smile, the actor expressed his excitement to be back in Singapore for the third time as he had been looking forward to spend a Good Day and create good memories with his fans at the Fanmeeting.

Park Bo Gum has received much praises for his latest role in “Encounter”, a drama that he starred alongside Song Hye-kyo, which ended its run in January this year. When asked how he usually rewards himself after each project, the actor considers the time spent meeting his fans as the most rewarding factor. He also shares that he will be busy with the filming of a new movie once his Asia Tour concludes, and asks fans to anticipate the release when the film is out.

Although he has played various roles in dramas and films, Park Bo Gum wasn’t able to choose his favourite character as he mentions that all of them were enjoyable to act in.

Finally, we also popped a question to Park Bo Gum and asked him to pick a character he would like to challenge out of the Top 5 roles named by Singapore fans (Prosecutor, Doctor, Villain, A character suffering from dissociative identity disorder, Gamer). The actor chose the role of a doctor because he felt that by playing this role, he would be able to encounter saving lives in emergency situations and through such moments, he could learn to appreciate his own life better.

Thanking fans for showering him with their unwavering love and support over the years, Park Bo Gum ends the press conference and promises to return with a cooler image in his next project.

3 Times Park Bo Gum Made Us Swoon with His Acting [GIVEAWAY ALERT!!]

After concluding yet another successful drama, Park Bo-gum will be embarking on his next Asia tour to meet and greet his fans after 2 long years.

Recently playing the role of Kim Jin-hyuk, a free-spirited book lover on tvN’s Encounter, his innocent smile and natural charisma caught the hearts of people once again, making him a hot topic these days.

Time and time again, Park Bo-gum has proven to us that he is a versatile actor capable of pulling off various roles but despite receiving a lot of love nowadays, everything wasn’t easy for the actor when he first started out.

Debuted in 2011, Park Bo-gum was featured in many smaller roles before hitting it big. From participating in supporting roles to slowly becoming the lead in his own dramas, he has come a long way since then. As his Singapore Fanmeeting draws closer, we take a look back into some pivotal moments in his career to bring you the 3 roles the actor has played that made us swoon.

1) Hello Monster / 너를 기억해

Park Bo-gum plays the role of Lee Hyun, a man who mysteriously disappears for 20 years only to return under a new moniker, Jung Sun-ho.

Despite the drama’s lackluster ratings, things started turning out for the better as the actor received praise for his realistic portrayal of a serial killer, something unlike the usual Park Bo-gum we see on screen.

Different from anything he has ever shown before, the role allowed him to show more depth to his acting as he smoothly transforms from a naïve-looking younger brother yearning for love to a relentless psychopath in a flip of a switch.

His convincing show earned him a lot of fans and for the first time ever, a bag full of awards at the 29th KBS Drama Awards.

2) Reply 1988 / 응답하라 1988

Riding on his popularity from before, Park Bo-gum took on the role of Choi Taek in hit series Reply 1988, playing as a down-to-earth, introverted genius that falls head over heels with his childhood friend, Deok-sun.

Soft on the outside but mature on the inside and incompetent in performing everyday things, Choi Taek’s pureness and goofy side struck a chord with the viewers as they were reminded of the joys of being a teenager in that time period.

This drama did extremely well on the charts, becoming the 2nd highest rated K-Drama broadcasted on cable television, further allowing Park Bo-gum to solidify his status as a competent actor capable of taking on a variety of roles.

His promising acting opened up a lot of doors for him and it becomes very evident as he lands another major role shortly after.

3) Love in the Moonlight / 구르미 그린 달빛

If you ever had to introduce a drama to your rom-com loving friends, Love in the Moonlight should definitely be at the top of your head. In this period drama, Park Bo-gum plays the role of a cheeky mischievous crown prince, Lee Yeong, who falls in love with his eunuch in an unexpected twist of fate.

The drama follows him as he grows from being an ordinary prince to a powerful monarch, so viewers can look forward to his ability in developing his character.

Playing the prince charming of our dreams, his impeccable sword skills and irresistible charms are sure to make you feel all fluffy and girly on the inside. As a testament to his superb acting chops and growing popularity, Park Bo-gum embarked on his first ever Asia Fanmeet tour at the end of this film, and much to the delight of his fans.

Can’t get enough of Park Bo-gum? The actor will be in Singapore for a Fanmeeting this 9 March (Saturday), 6 pm at The Star Theatre and he will be giving a Hi-Touch to all attendees after the show. Limited tickets are still available via APACTix – find out more below:

The songs were personally handpicked by the actor himself as a way of expressing that it’s a Good Day whenever he’s with his fans and it was even revealed that he took time out of his busy schedules to prepare and practice all the songs he chose. His hard work definitely paid off as the fans ardently cheered him on with each passing song.

img_6741

Korean heartthrob Park Bo Gum successfully completed his final stop of Asia Tour Fan Meeting in Singapore last Saturday, displaying different sides of charms to 3,500 fans during the 200-minutes long show.

It was the actor’s first visit to Singapore and he was just as excited to explore the city and feast on some local food here.

At the press conference that was held a day ahead of his fan meeting, Park Bo Gum revealed that he had tried Laksa and Bak Kut Teh, and even asked reporters for their recommendations on local favourites.

When asked if he prefers to be called the “Nation’s Crown Prince” or “Nation’s Son-in-law”, the humble actor jokingly replied “Both” and added that he was honoured to be given these nicknames because of his drama roles in Reply 1988 and Love In The Moonlight.

Park Bo Gum further revealed that he still keeps in touch with his co-actors and actresses in Love In The Moonlight, commenting that although everyone is busy with their own work and projects, “we do send supportive messages to one another once in a while“.
